We know and say that God is love. He is more love than anything we know but love is usually directional for people. We love a person or a thing or what just happened. We are hidden with Christ in God and still recognize good vs evil. One day love will reign as the only survivor of time. My calling is linked to how I was created in the image of God Who tells His story in time but not before time. Again the narrative is the Triune eternal God in three persons in community before the creation of the earth. Then the creation, fall, Abraham, and Jesus is born – the incarnate God. The church is filled with Holy Spirit and our picture of the Trinity begins to make sense. You and I are in time awaiting the completion of God’s redemption of His people and Jesus’ return.
Everyday we are invited into fellowship with Jesus and His kind attention, Eph 1:1-5. This fellowship informs my day. “For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, ‘Abba! Father’! The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.” – Rom 8:15-17. This day that you have been given, that you want to give back to God, may have some hard spots. I am called to work, serve, guard, order, abundance, beauty, and to mediate this and more. Back to the top, this day is about relationship to God, my people, and the lost. Am I nice? Can you count on me to be brave? Am I using my gifts? Is there any suggestion of royal priesthood?
Paul says that we can be in any circumstances AND serve God. By putting on the whole armor of God we can live like Christ today and I think God loves us for trying.
