Gen 5:21-24
“Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah. After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. And Enoch walked with God; and he WAS not, for God took him.”
What do we do in our span of life? Did each breath count? Do we wish we could undo days and the people who made those days so despicable? I’m ashamed of the time I’ve wasted and so should you. Even so, God has witnessed it all and says He loves us dearly. We can rest in that assurance because men lie but God does not. While we are waiting for those best days we can rest. It is OK. We can do the dishes while we wait. Enoch walked with God. This is the proof, the dream, that we can walk with God. Until we know next steps I’ll be doing the dishes.
Gen 16:5-13
Sarai dealt harshly with her maid after she had given the woman to her husband to birth a child as an inheritance. Hagar left the camp and an angel appeared in the desert and promised her the world. “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly…and you shall call his name Ishmael”. Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, “You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, ‘Have I also here seen Him who sees me?'” Lately I hear this quoted so often. We want to picture God and we want to know that He sees us. We are lost in the world of over 8.2 billion people. When we enter a room we are self-conscious. We want a place at the table. God is always working and He has put us in His story. In Genesis, so much has already happened. We want to shorten the distance between our story and the story God is revealing through His word. We wait to walk closer to Him. When Hagar returned I imagine she washed a lot of dishes.
