I was praying for Bibles. More Bibles for many more people. It is God’s ‘owners manual’. If you believe in God you need to know what He says about you and the people around you – vertical – God – and – horizontal – others. My Voice of the Martyrs prayer calendar, for November 23rd says to, “Pray that digital access to God’s Word will thrive among Omanis (Oman), who are not allowed to purchase Bibles.” This is my question. How can a book be so dangerous if it is false? If it is true, make sure everyone gets to read it for themselves. None of this…just go to church and listen to a man’s ideas about it. Gooble it up like your life depends on it. Is the Bible magic? Oh no – not at all. It is truth and truth surpasses magical thinking. Today I also listened to an appeal to our government to save people suffering in China for teaching from the Bible. Why would the Chinese government threaten, beat, jail, and make people disappear. The Bible is the common denominator in these salvation and persecution stories. This is one powerful book. As we share our faith, the account should point to God’s word. The Word is Jesus. From John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God, All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” That darkness would be the people trying to suppress truth by keeping Bible’s hidden from hearts. I am in awe of the Bible smugglers who understood their sacrifice would mean everything. This one-of-a-kind book can be found in dollar stores and put into a bag with socks, toothbrush, snacks, a prayer, and anything else a needy person might want, or carried across oceans. This is the task.
