James 4:14-16
“…yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will LIVE (yes, God is in charge of that too) and do this or that’. As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
During the pandemic, my church video person (brilliant) Carson interviewed me about how I saw that time used by the Lord. It gave me pause and also gave me words to express what was stirring in my heart. I talked about focus on family (some of that edited out because of time constraint) and a desire to honor the Lord’s GO message. I said – I can’t wait to go! As I am less than a month out, I am careful with how I am spending my time. Today I fly to the Dallas area to visit family. That is my life. I love the Lord and I love my family and friends. However – I realize I am a bit older for this service abroad so I have found a place with YWAM. I’m sure there is vetting but if you hold a mirror in front of your face and it fogs – you are able to follow Jesus, be it across the street or across the world. However, again, I do not want to boast in what you have done to support this mission trip. It is your heart that God has moved, not a greying woman. I know that and thank God for you daily. Be not tempted to act as if we are in control of our lives and that our plans will succeed. God’s plans will succeed. Boasting is evil…
