So far, 2026 looks plenty blank. I like fresh, new things. I’ve entered important birthdays but not the two vacations I’m still tweaking. The theme is ABIDE. I’m planning to paint a sign, like a quilt of patchwork, to commemorate my desire to conform in the presence of God. I’m not too old for change and found myself longing for a change of weather as I drove through the rain at an early hour to exercise with friends today. A friend in a southern state posted a dreamy photo of his little cottage bathed in early morning light. I experienced geographical envy. There will be many similar plans put on this new calendar. I’ve ordered 2026 like this, prioritizing; God, family/friends, sleep, eat well, exercise, and write. I wrote this down on a flight. Last year was a year of GO. I hope there was abiding but I was not in any spot long enough to feel any sort of rest. It was not a bad year but I’m tired. I’m hoping for rest and abiding. You may be wondering what happened to my fav goal of serving. It is still there but in a different context. That’s why abiding is first! I’ll post the painting when done.
