That is the first thing I wrote in my journal after arriving to church. It was unrelated to any message, song, or interaction other than my favorite pastime – people watching. I’m looking around the church (more difficult when sitting near the front) but I’ll be praying for people after service so I need to be close. I met an usher in the hallway and explained my presence at the “ministry headquarters” (don’t really know what to call it but the cookies were delicious but I do diverse). I told him that I am on the prayer team and that I had been practicing all week. It was meant to be funny but was awkward. Oh well – I was glad to be there and serve. So – I’m looking at the people wondering who believes in Jesus. Today we are all heading to hell without Jesus. We exit that path by some mental gymnastics if you are like C.S. Lewis and need answers. We exit the path to hell by faith in Jesus. Without faith we are already experiencing what the devil has planned for us; no peace, no true love, no assurance, no path, no safety, no true joy, and no to a lot of other things that the Lord provides for every believer today whether we exercise our spiritual birth yet or are dragging our feet. I’m not getting theological except to quote Heidi Klum in reverse, “One day you’re out and one day you are in”.
I have been spending a lot of time with people in the hospital or with people who have people who are very ill. There is no way out of this life alive. Faith in Jesus is the better choice because without Jesus you have already planned for hell whether you realize it or not. Sorry. I’m just ripping off the band aid. Today you can exit hell. Tomorrow maybe not.
