There are so many songs I love to sing. There are words that jump out and have faith meaning. My recent fav is 10,000 Reasons. There is nothing missing in that song. Care, as a word, is mentioned often in scripture. “God will take care of you…Take care of the church…Because he cares for you…Members should have the same care for one another…and…Do you not care that we are perishing?” I have been singing and playing a great song with a beautiful melody called the Cares Chorus by Kelly Willard. It is about casting all my cares on God when I run out of ideas. That is beginning to sound backwards to me and is my paraphrase. It speaks of desperation. Although we don’t see trouble coming it is not unexpected. We pray up. Job praised God in plenty and he praised Him after multiple losses. We do come into the world naked. Have you been to a funeral lately? That coffin only has a body in it. I have noticed other worship music that might be beautiful but is not scriptural. That is what music pastors are for – to discern and sort. So praise away. There is no real harm in our good intentions. These are difficult times and as we follow His lead, pray for others, sing His praises, do the good works He has set before us, the melody will be sweet. “He is the God of the hills and of the valleys”.
