Church Royalty

Posted on December 18, 2023December 20, 2023 by Pam

The only one wearing a King’s crown is King Jesus but the church is in the world and we act like the world by elevating some and diminishing others. The reason Dr Suess made the Grinch green is because the Grinch steals Christmas. He is missing all of the joy. He is missing it so…

A Long List

Posted on December 18, 2023December 18, 2023 by Pam

I’m looking at a list of notes of things I’m curious about. That always takes me to writing so here I will mention some thoughts in brief. Does she love Walter? In the film, ‘Sleepless in Seattle’, the female lead is smitten with a story and voice she hears on the radio while on the…

God’s Great Feast

Posted on December 16, 2023December 16, 2023 by Pam

I missed the Ladies Christmas Tea at church this morning. I won’t tell you why but, in the night, I’d googled what happens to your tummy when you take amoxicillin. Enough on that. I saw the photos of the elegant decor. A good friend, an author, posted photos of her Christmas table. I have not…

The Replacements

Posted on December 16, 2023December 16, 2023 by Pam

A lot of my recent writing has been on themes relating to food. We need food. What I also need are some replacements for old cookie sheets. They are so perfect upon purchase but then tarnish with time and it is a challenge to get the cookie remnants to disappear. Time for new and also…

Battle of the Bands

Posted on December 14, 2023December 16, 2023 by Pam

The wonderful thing about this battle is that there is disappointment but nobody dies with dueling high school wanna-bees. The battle I’m thinking of is Christmas songs vs Easter songs. Why are there so many more glorious songs about the baby Jesus than the crucified Christ? There is no possible imagery like Rudolf the red-nosed…

Mary Delivered

Posted on December 14, 2023December 14, 2023 by Pam

I’m flipping through cable Christmas movies and have found the worst. Problem is that you don’t know until you’ve used it as wallpaper (background for what I really should be doing). It was a nativity and pieces were missing. The angel looked like a very nice man dressed in white but where were the accompanying…

Recipes

Posted on December 13, 2023December 13, 2023 by Pam

I missed a birthday party this evening. I had baked the birthday person’s favorite, a cheesecake with blueberries. A doctor’s appointment determined I should stay home but there will be a redo. I’m at that stage that I look up a recipe for reference but don’t really need to follow it in detail. When I…

To Give Light

Posted on December 12, 2023December 12, 2023 by Pam

We have these shorter days lately so light becomes a bigger deal. We’ve also experienced the season of Diwali, known as the “Festival of Lights”, recognizing the five-day Indian festival. There are a variety of stories of its origin but the basic theme is good over evil. Then we see signs of Hanukkah, an eight…

Lost in Seattle

Posted on November 27, 2023November 27, 2023 by Pam

Feeling lost can be inconvenient but the sun was out. Cool crisp air filled my lungs as my car meandered through some of the sweetest neighborhoods abutting the University of Washington. I had taken a direct route from exercise to keep a tradition. My girls were missing but I sent photos and reminded them that…

Grab the Botox

Posted on November 24, 2023November 24, 2023 by Pam

Aging is shame-based. Why is that? It should be, and is, an honor to grow old and outlast the others. We hate cancer and hate funerals. I keep purchasing sympathy cards. Today I look as good as I ever will. I feel better than I ever will. I can still do things. I even climbed…

"Thoughts from a genuinely evaluative mind."

Pam writes so that must make her a writer. Recently retired, she can now fill days with family, friends, missions, writing, creating, and showing up for whomever needs her. Pam loves the Lord and people. The Bible is God’s love letter to us (and who does not need more love) so she studies and writes some more.

Pam lives in the Pacific Northwest but was home-grown in Southern California. She attended San Jose Bible College and finished a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at UCLA. She became a teacher, then a Research and Development Chemist, then she built two successful real estate businesses in two states. Pam also pursued study at Fuller Theological Seminary and just completed six months serving in missions abroad.

Pam has two amazing children, married to two precious in-laws, and five sweet grandchildren. Pam is a gifted connector and communicator and the Northwest has the perfect climate for staying inside and writing – or baking! She has been writing since a wee one and is currently converting many years of blogging, by topic, into ten books. The first is a collection from 2011 titled, Beautiful Enough. The second is a yearly day-timer titled, Weekly Planner - Lessons in Life, Glory, and Grace. Number three is in progress with the working title, Christmas Today.

Ten facts about Pam in no particular order:

  1. On the team that developed an insulation for the Alaskan oil pipeline.
  2. Loves looking at homes, decorating, and has flipped five homes.
  3. Likes being tall.
  4. Films have helped define her vocabulary.
  5. Comes from Colorado tenement farmers with history traced to Wales.
  6. Was lost but now is found.
  7. Baking makes her happy – as does eating sweets with coffee, of course.
  8. She thinks mission work is the most important work in the world.
  9. The church started in Rome so she is learning Italian.
  10. Pam is a work in progress!
