Off to Biel We Go

Posted on November 25, 2022November 25, 2022 by Pam

Monday will begin the first outreach from Wiler (Vee-lar) in Switzerland. This is a bi-lingual city of German & French speaking people. Many of the 104 people groups are out of West Africa. One of three in the city are immigrants and one of four are on government relief. These are some of the poorest…

Meetings

Posted on November 22, 2022November 22, 2022 by Pam

I apologize. I had promised to write often so you can pray and be apart of this journey. The last time I wrote was 11/11. I’ve missed the US election and am about to celebrate Thanksgiving in a country that does not celebrate. That is an upcoming meeting so please read until the end. Some…

Make-Over

Posted on November 11, 2022November 11, 2022 by Pam

I’ve always enjoyed make-over shows. Whether it be a kitchen or a person – I love before and after photos. In my business I could walk into a home & immediately know how to improve it. I would always caution the homeowner to use the grocery-store approach – keep the ideas you want and don’t…

Cows Wear Bells

Posted on November 8, 2022November 8, 2022 by Pam

I googled this after returning from an alpine walk. I have navigation on my phone so veered off the usual path into cow-land. What I learned is that, “In alpine regions, cows are often equipped with a bell throughout the summer season to ensure that farmers can locate their animals on the wide alpine pastures, many…

Going to Church

Posted on November 6, 2022November 6, 2022 by Pam

Visited the same church in Biel today. Every service has been unique and unexpected. On the first visit a Catholic theologian visited and shared a very formal message that included the history of a woman and her service due to her faith. He wore the formal garb. My friend, Kim, who had visited a week…

Sifting

Posted on November 1, 2022November 1, 2022 by Pam

I was going to label this post “nothing original” only because I listen, watch, evaluate, and then share. There is something to be said for the phrase, “there is nothing new under the sun”. That is why I wonder why people are allowed to write books that sound an awful lot like the other book…

Schon, dich wiederzusehen!

Posted on October 28, 2022October 30, 2022 by Pam

So I tried this greeting at breakfast today with kind reactions. I did not have the correct pronunciation but it means, “Nice to see you again”. I noticed again what I noticed at yesterdays worship time (singing), that the German-speaking members come alive when a song is in their native tongue. Familiarity connects us to…

Big Things and Small Things

Posted on October 25, 2022October 25, 2022 by Pam

I think I will begin with some small things – the washing machines. It is expensive to run a dryer in some parts of the world and so we hang our clothes in the basement on clothes lines with two de-humidifiers running. I usually wait two days because only one day and I’m not sure…

Two Days in the Life

Posted on October 22, 2022October 23, 2022 by Pam

I thought you might enjoy hearing about my schedule. It varies in the study season but yesterday was very long and then today ended with me cooking chili con carne for 24 with the guidance of a very wonderful leader. So Friday began with an hour of corporate prayer after breakfast, which we do on…

Do I Want to be a Missionary?

Posted on October 20, 2022October 20, 2022 by Pam

God is infinite – I am finite. He knows everything. He knows all but does not cause all. God did not create rebellion but Satan’s discontent based on pride did. The Heaven’s declare the glory of God. He is sovereign which, to me, means that He has the last word on everything. He is a…

"Thoughts from a genuinely evaluative mind."

Pam writes so that must make her a writer. Recently retired, she can now fill days with family, friends, missions, writing, creating, and showing up for whomever needs her. Pam loves the Lord and people. The Bible is God’s love letter to us (and who does not need more love) so she studies and writes some more.

Pam lives in the Pacific Northwest but was home-grown in Southern California. She attended San Jose Bible College and finished a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at UCLA. She became a teacher, then a Research and Development Chemist, then she built two successful real estate businesses in two states. Pam also pursued study at Fuller Theological Seminary and just completed six months serving in missions abroad.

Pam has two amazing children, married to two precious in-laws, and five sweet grandchildren. Pam is a gifted connector and communicator and the Northwest has the perfect climate for staying inside and writing – or baking! She has been writing since a wee one and is currently converting many years of blogging, by topic, into ten books. The first is a collection from 2011 titled, Beautiful Enough. The second is a yearly day-timer titled, Weekly Planner - Lessons in Life, Glory, and Grace. Number three is in progress with the working title, Christmas Today.

Ten facts about Pam in no particular order:

  1. On the team that developed an insulation for the Alaskan oil pipeline.
  2. Loves looking at homes, decorating, and has flipped five homes.
  3. Likes being tall.
  4. Films have helped define her vocabulary.
  5. Comes from Colorado tenement farmers with history traced to Wales.
  6. Was lost but now is found.
  7. Baking makes her happy – as does eating sweets with coffee, of course.
  8. She thinks mission work is the most important work in the world.
  9. The church started in Rome so she is learning Italian.
  10. Pam is a work in progress!
