Count Down

Posted on November 15, 2024November 21, 2024 by Pam

Could be countup instead of countdown, but I am checking things off my list. I have three weekends and two-plus weeks before returning to the states so, on this morning off, I did typical ‘Pam’ things. That would start with breakfast at a 1902 cafe called the Louvre. A ‘fit’ breakfast consists of a small…

I’m Off Script

Posted on November 12, 2024November 12, 2024 by Pam

I read this phrase in a book about transitions in cross-cultural ministry. It really applies to anyone who is not as conventional as the average. You look to your right, then your left, and you are doing different stuff. I’ve done a lot of normal stuff and am very grateful for a nice family, great…

End of Day

Posted on November 11, 2024November 11, 2024 by Pam

Just wanted you to see what the end of the day looks like. I will carry a flashlight starting tomorrow because of the construction and cobblestones here, plus my cold-weather boots started to fall apart today. Sometimes I am a wimp. I sliced my finger last week and am remembering that I do not like…

King of Endless Worth

Posted on November 10, 2024November 10, 2024 by Pam

That phrase was in a song sung at church this morning. It is so beautiful. The morning was eventful because power went out at the library and we had already set up our mini-library for people to check out or purchase wonderful books for all ages. Hard decision but I was left behind to carry…

Kind and Friendly

Posted on November 9, 2024 by Pam

How wonderful to have a talent for making people feel at ease. Friendly people have those personalities that notice people and don’t wait to be noticed. Lucky you – use it wisely. Friendly is a personality trait but a more refined trait is kindness. Gal 5:22-23 gives us a good list, “But the fruit of…

Checking Some Czech Things

Posted on November 9, 2024November 9, 2024 by Pam

Today I rode the most adorable tram to the library for our children’s Saturday event. It looks like a Disney ride from the 60’s. I’ll eventually remember to snap a photo but am usually rushing to hop on. With 25 sleeps to go I am checking some Czech things off my list. I am hoping…

Running on Empty

Posted on November 7, 2024 by Pam

Was God out of gas after He created the world in six days? I doubt it but He called for rest. Why did God call for rest in Gen 2:1-3? “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished His work that He…

Travel Advisory

Posted on November 2, 2024November 4, 2024 by Pam

My tummy is upset and not much sleep. I’ve never Ubered in Berlin. From an urban spot (with my tree) only four minutes to pickup! So happy. Finally over the bug and fit to finish. I was so relieved that I over-tipped the driver. As I exit the vehicle the Berlin Central Train Station does…

The Tree Outside My Window

Posted on October 30, 2024October 30, 2024 by Pam

Well, it will be my window for two more sleeps as I prep to return to the Crossroads Library in Prague for 33 more sleeps, then back to US. The tree stands out (or more accurately – up) in the urban landscape of Berlin (to the right of window frame). Here’s how it looked the…

Dog Eared

Posted on October 29, 2024October 30, 2024 by Pam

I had no idea how to spell dog eared but that is what phones are for. I sent this postcard to my cousin, Becky (who has traversed the globe), at least a month ago so the condition of this did not surprise her. As I had been trying to complete the library inventory in Berlin,…

"Thoughts from a genuinely evaluative mind."

Pam writes so that must make her a writer. Recently retired, she can now fill days with family, friends, missions, writing, creating, and showing up for whomever needs her. Pam loves the Lord and people. The Bible is God’s love letter to us (and who does not need more love) so she studies and writes some more.

Pam lives in the Pacific Northwest but was home-grown in Southern California. She attended San Jose Bible College and finished a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at UCLA. She became a teacher, then a Research and Development Chemist, then she built two successful real estate businesses in two states. Pam also pursued study at Fuller Theological Seminary and just completed six months serving in missions abroad.

Pam has two amazing children, married to two precious in-laws, and five sweet grandchildren. Pam is a gifted connector and communicator and the Northwest has the perfect climate for staying inside and writing – or baking! She has been writing since a wee one and is currently converting many years of blogging, by topic, into ten books. The first is a collection from 2011 titled, Beautiful Enough. The second is a yearly day-timer titled, Weekly Planner - Lessons in Life, Glory, and Grace. Number three is in progress with the working title, Christmas Today.

Ten facts about Pam in no particular order:

  1. On the team that developed an insulation for the Alaskan oil pipeline.
  2. Loves looking at homes, decorating, and has flipped five homes.
  3. Likes being tall.
  4. Films have helped define her vocabulary.
  5. Comes from Colorado tenement farmers with history traced to Wales.
  6. Was lost but now is found.
  7. Baking makes her happy – as does eating sweets with coffee, of course.
  8. She thinks mission work is the most important work in the world.
  9. The church started in Rome so she is learning Italian.
  10. Pam is a work in progress!

“I will be your God throughout your lifetime - until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” Isaiah 46:4
