Christian World View

Posted on June 12, 2023June 12, 2023 by Pam

It was a long day but needed to become longer. So off to Westgate Chapel in Edmonds for a forum on Worldview formation last evening. I happen to have this definition handy from our YWAM London class on this subject from February 2023. We heard brilliant analysis from Joseph Backholm, a native of Washington State, who now serves on the east coast as Senior Fellow for the Family Research Council. All of these mentions are from him and not original to me but I’m passing some thoughts along.

Disobedience to God is why ideas and public policy is going so wrong. People are voting with their feet by going to Idaho and Texas (I have children in both of those states). These moves are a non-violent civil war. Look at the first three chapters of Daniel in the OT. Same cultural differences and we need to keep our feet planted on solid ground and not make that first compromise. One compromise can become many. Secularism is just another religion and there is nothing neutral in it. There are creeds and religious holidays like Pride month. The secularist tells us that If you don’t like it you must be a bigot. That same source hates your ideas but is not a bigot?

Feelings do not determine truth and that is why a Christian education is so important for our children. They will be indoctrinated into Christianity or Secularism. Which do you prefer? The four main questions that need answering are: 1) my origin, 2) the meaning of life, 3) who has the authority to determine what is right and what is wrong, and 4) what happens after I die. Those answers should be taught from your values and not a teacher who may be the opposite to you in their thinking. The heart is deceitful. Our children are being taught that they need to live authentically instead of following our authentic and loving God. Lawlessness follows and is being politicized.

We must pursue truth because media is big business and not concerned with truth, as we have learned in recent years. A good example is the handling of a germ – covid. We also need to better protect the chain of custody in voting. God uses broken people and broken processes so do not fear that all is lost. Instead, steward the authority and influence you have received. Weed your end of the garden and vote. God’s laws conform with His truth so how can my unholy truth be superior? Secular virtue is not Christian virtue. It is another lie that we control our gender. Today I canceled emails from the YMCA because of all the pronouns. We have always had good pronouns and your invention – to pretend you can reinvent yourself – is a charade. It is a lie. Every baby in the hospital is examined and is, at birth, given a declaration of his or her biology designed by God not you. Since the science agrees that a brain is not yet fully developed until age 23 – let that be a later discussion – not kindergarten or age 7 or even 7th grade.

Do not hold the door open for the people who are fooled by these lies but people who disagreed with God killed Jesus so we are not expecting something easy.

Again, my thoughts from my notes and quite editorialized. Go to the Family Research Council website for the real story but bottom line – politics saves no one. We are the protectors of our children and have the authority to bring them up in the way that they should go – not a government curriculum that is offensive to our faith in Christ.

"Thoughts from a genuinely evaluative mind."

Pam writes so that must make her a writer. Recently retired, she can now fill days with family, friends, missions, writing, creating, and showing up for whomever needs her. Pam loves the Lord and people. The Bible is God’s love letter to us (and who does not need more love) so she studies and writes some more.

Pam lives in the Pacific Northwest but was home-grown in Southern California. She attended San Jose Bible College and finished a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at UCLA. She became a teacher, then a Research and Development Chemist, then she built two successful real estate businesses in two states. Pam also pursued study at Fuller Theological Seminary and just completed six months serving in missions abroad.

Pam has two amazing children, married to two precious in-laws, and five sweet grandchildren. Pam is a gifted connector and communicator and the Northwest has the perfect climate for staying inside and writing – or baking! She has been writing since a wee one and is currently converting many years of blogging, by topic, into ten books. The first is a collection from 2011 titled, Beautiful Enough. The second is a yearly day-timer titled, Weekly Planner - Lessons in Life, Glory, and Grace. Number three is in progress with the working title, Christmas Today.

Ten facts about Pam in no particular order:

  1. On the team that developed an insulation for the Alaskan oil pipeline.
  2. Loves looking at homes, decorating, and has flipped five homes.
  3. Likes being tall.
  4. Films have helped define her vocabulary.
  5. Comes from Colorado tenement farmers with history traced to Wales.
  6. Was lost but now is found.
  7. Baking makes her happy – as does eating sweets with coffee, of course.
  8. She thinks mission work is the most important work in the world.
  9. The church started in Rome so she is learning Italian.
  10. Pam is a work in progress!
