I was created in God’s image. Gen 1:26-27, “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God me created them; male and female he created them”. James 3:9, “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness”. We, like God, have a mind, emotions, and a will. God relates to us as persons. Our minds, emotions, and wills work together.
Don’s drawing was a truck. The will powers it, the mind directs and drives, and both pull the emotions along. The will is where virtues like patience, peace, calmness, love, and others reside. The mind powers the brakes. In the back of the truck, emotions, dwell some possible challenges like addiction and bondage. We are not animals because we make choices. God works in us to will His good pleasure. We are not runaway trucks on a steep hill – we are made in the image of God who prepares an escape route for us.
