Second Best

Posted on October 20, 2024October 21, 2024 by Pam

I’m asking God for something better but really went sideways with a bus diversion. What is it this time? I passed the stop from last week and trusted the app. I noticed the interesting bakery from last week – hey – a landmark is a landmark! When I hopped off the recommended stop it said…

Bikes and Braces

Posted on October 19, 2024October 21, 2024 by Pam

The sun was out most of the day so bikes were more plentiful than usual. Another observation, on the train or bus I see bikes (some collapsible) and teens galore wearing those teeth-straightening gadgets – braces. I don’t know anything about health and dental care here but suspect the dental care is affordable? Most of…

Here Comes the Bus – Not

Posted on October 18, 2024October 18, 2024 by Pam

Live and learn. Last week they said Zelensky was the traffic diversion and today it was Biden? I had a wonderful time with new friends but have not yet navigated nite-time buses. My goal is to be in before sundown when traveling abroad. Oops! The details would bore you but the schedule said next bus…

On the Street Where You Work

Posted on October 16, 2024 by Pam

What is the difference between a Roma gypsy art student and a mandolin-playing old gypsy guy? There is none in reaching people before the Lord returns. I had boasted about an art outreach in 2023 in the foothills near Shkoder, Albania, where YWAM missions people, John and Mary serve. They were kind to let me…

What Is Turkish Pizza?

Posted on October 14, 2024October 14, 2024 by Pam

I know what it is. It is a good idea that just may help you make it in a new country where you lack language and skills. It is innovation that helps us survive changing times. I saw the sign from a bus or train today and may not try it but applaud the effort….

German Potluck

Posted on October 13, 2024October 13, 2024 by Pam

According to my language app, the German word for potluck is potluck. I was going the wrong way on a bus this morning but still made it to the church on time. The songs we sang were mostly in German but you will recognize some titles; Open the Eyes of My Heart, Worthy is the…

Power, Presence, and the Occasional Bulldog

Posted on October 12, 2024October 13, 2024 by Pam

There is a large bulldog guarding my door since I arrived with groceries for tomorrow’s church potluck. I think it’s the food bag and not my safety that concerns him. I saw other creatures (people) today. The same gypsies ride the trains with their mandolins. I did not see this practice in Prague. They play…

It’s All New Again

Posted on October 11, 2024October 11, 2024 by Pam

So Prague was so new and different. Then I got used to some things and the people are the best. Now, a few days in Berlin and it is so new and different. I will get used to some things but long for familiar things. The one thing God did right is people are people…

Two Sleeps in Berlin

Posted on October 9, 2024 by Pam

It has been an interesting two days. I wanted to show you the commute to the library first. Pastor Larry gave good directions and accompanied me the first day. First a walk to a bus stop. Then a train. Then some more walking. Here are some views around the library in Berlin called Connections, ‘A…

Retraction

Posted on October 4, 2024October 4, 2024 by Pam

Not quite a retraction but I had time today to visit a typical (looked like US) shopping mall. We leave for the mountains of Tabor this afternoon then I will be moving on to the Berlin library so will not be writing until I resettle. I had mentioned the unfriendly, stoic mom’s on the tram…

"Thoughts from a genuinely evaluative mind."

Pam writes so that must make her a writer. Recently retired, she can now fill days with family, friends, missions, writing, creating, and showing up for whomever needs her. Pam loves the Lord and people. The Bible is God’s love letter to us (and who does not need more love) so she studies and writes some more.

Pam lives in the Pacific Northwest but was home-grown in Southern California. She attended San Jose Bible College and finished a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at UCLA. She became a teacher, then a Research and Development Chemist, then she built two successful real estate businesses in two states. Pam also pursued study at Fuller Theological Seminary and just completed six months serving in missions abroad.

Pam has two amazing children, married to two precious in-laws, and five sweet grandchildren. Pam is a gifted connector and communicator and the Northwest has the perfect climate for staying inside and writing – or baking! She has been writing since a wee one and is currently converting many years of blogging, by topic, into ten books. The first is a collection from 2011 titled, Beautiful Enough. The second is a yearly day-timer titled, Weekly Planner - Lessons in Life, Glory, and Grace. Number three is in progress with the working title, Christmas Today.

Ten facts about Pam in no particular order:

  1. On the team that developed an insulation for the Alaskan oil pipeline.
  2. Loves looking at homes, decorating, and has flipped five homes.
  3. Likes being tall.
  4. Films have helped define her vocabulary.
  5. Comes from Colorado tenement farmers with history traced to Wales.
  6. Was lost but now is found.
  7. Baking makes her happy – as does eating sweets with coffee, of course.
  8. She thinks mission work is the most important work in the world.
  9. The church started in Rome so she is learning Italian.
  10. Pam is a work in progress!

“I will be your God throughout your lifetime - until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” Isaiah 46:4
