As usual, there is inspiration everywhere at this time of year. I can’t keep up and it is not just Christmas. Here are some snippets because I listen to people and read.
Ps 73:26 – “My flesh AND my heart fail; BUT God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” What more is there to us than our hearts and bodies? This is describing the worst day of your life. It is hard to pick yourself up off the floor and your heart says no. Someone lost her husband yesterday and she will be a young widow. I can’t imagine. Both body and heart fail and the word is AND. There are certain stressors that counselors list and give them values. Make your own list. The big BUT in this verse means it does not matter how we feel in our body or heart. 2 Cor 1:20 reads, “For all the promises of God in Him ARE yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” I know that I cannot beat death – only Jesus can. The cards are stacked against us in this place BUT God in His mercy and goodness never forgets us.
Today I read that love should be steady, stubborn, and unconditional. I picture a character in one of the films my grandchildren enjoy. A tiny troll is taking on the world and fiercely defending a castle. In the end he/she is a hero. We WILL see a happy ending BUT not without God.
