Soaking It In

Posted on February 25, 2025February 26, 2025 by Pam

Aside from the rain in British Columbia, I keep noticing other things. This random input is not special or biblical but just a collection. Please skip this reading if you are hoping for substance. Where I am staying has a collection of DVD’s so I watched an old Star Wars film. I’m convinced that George Lucas is afraid of worms and gooey wiggly things with sections. If you watch any of his films, when the music is loud and drama prevails, there is a monster reveal that reminds me of worms.

I have been in receipt of comments on this blog in the Russian language so I can’t tell you what they want. Today I got a solicitation for affordable windows in Egypt. I only know this because it arrived in English.

Affection is a poetic song connection. Most marriages begin with two hearts in one home – Pam. There are two things we get everyday when we wake up – a chance and a choice – FB.

Do you overeat on vacation? I don’t mean to but, revisited the Parliament Cafe, known as the BC Legislative Dining Room. I used to take the kids there for an affordable meal and a chance to see famous legislators. Once I was there with some work friends during an ecology conference and, according to one friend, Joni Mitchell was there. It did look like her at a distance but I will always wonder. Anyway the place is now famous with reservations required – ba humbug. Still it was the best meal yet of this holiday. There are photos of leaders and I was seated by the Parliament of 1875-1878. There were about 24 smartly dressed MEN. The older they looked the longer the beard and only five younger fellows had but a mustache. They all wore full-on vested suits and the only man with no facial hair may have been folically challenged because he looked like an outsider. The table decor was one colorful Gerber daisy embedded on sea shells covered in water. There is much made in the building of the original native tribes which is familiar to me being from the Seattle area.

To me the interesting thing in BC is looking like the people in the neighborhoods but the flair is still London with more familiar language. There is a similar nonchalance in regard to mailing post cards with no special stamp and difficulty finding a post office. It reminds me of Prague only better in that regard. Although we look similar, these people have learned an entirely different political system and tax situation. They are truly hybrid Europeans and Americans. Left to do is the Royal BC Museum so I may learn something to add later…

"Thoughts from a genuinely evaluative mind."

Pam writes so that must make her a writer. Recently retired, she can now fill days with family, friends, missions, writing, creating, and showing up for whomever needs her. Pam loves the Lord and people. The Bible is God’s love letter to us (and who does not need more love) so she studies and writes some more.

Pam lives in the Pacific Northwest but was home-grown in Southern California. She attended San Jose Bible College and finished a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at UCLA. She became a teacher, then a Research and Development Chemist, then she built two successful real estate businesses in two states. Pam also pursued study at Fuller Theological Seminary and just completed six months serving in missions abroad.

Pam has two amazing children, married to two precious in-laws, and five sweet grandchildren. Pam is a gifted connector and communicator and the Northwest has the perfect climate for staying inside and writing – or baking! She has been writing since a wee one and is currently converting many years of blogging, by topic, into ten books. The first is a collection from 2011 titled, Beautiful Enough. The second is a yearly day-timer titled, Weekly Planner - Lessons in Life, Glory, and Grace. Number three is in progress with the working title, Christmas Today.

Ten facts about Pam in no particular order:

  1. On the team that developed an insulation for the Alaskan oil pipeline.
  2. Loves looking at homes, decorating, and has flipped five homes.
  3. Likes being tall.
  4. Films have helped define her vocabulary.
  5. Comes from Colorado tenement farmers with history traced to Wales.
  6. Was lost but now is found.
  7. Baking makes her happy – as does eating sweets with coffee, of course.
  8. She thinks mission work is the most important work in the world.
  9. The church started in Rome so she is learning Italian.
  10. Pam is a work in progress!
