“The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” Luke 2:11
Many of us who love this truth have heard people argue that Jesus never claimed to be the Son of God – the Messiah. Before the earth was created God’s plan to save us was in motion. Upon His birth (arrival) the recorded prophecies wow us in their accuracy and simplicity. Yes, the New Testament presents Jesus as claiming to be the Messiah through both direct statements and implied meanings. From AI, when questioned by the high priest, Jesus specifically answered, “I am,” to the question, “Art thou the Christ (Messiah), the Son of the Blessed?”. Jesus told the woman at the well in Samaria, “I who speak to you am He” when she said she knew the Messiah was coming. Jesus also used titles that were associated with the Messiah, such as “Son of Man” and “Son of God”. Jesus accepted titles as when Peter declared, “You are the Christ (Messiah), the Son of the living God”.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peach”. – Isaiah 9:6. “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift”! 2 Cor 9:15
We celebrate what the incarnation does in all of us. Without Jesus we are just fallen. With Jesus we are raised to new life in Christ. Christmas will be completed when Jesus comes again in ALL His glory, not as a God/man. Today I rejoice with you in the miracle of Christmas and wish you a season blessed with His love.
