Hello parents. You have the best job in the world but there are challenges. I would sort these tasks into soft and hard. Soft is the hugs, kisses, cutest smiles, growth charts, school and soccer wows, freckles, friends, parties, vacations, nite-nite prayers, and a million other blessings. More challenging could be diapers, tantrums, runny noses, vomit, tiny rebellions at the most inconvenient times, tiny bandaids or large ones, and a million other challenges. In the end, I love what Elizabeth Elliot said, “The process of shaping the child shapes also the mother herself”. Expect it all with hope. You will be changed in the process. In the tough times we have living hope. No matter the outcome, just like Jesus in the grave, “Then came the morning that sealed the promise. Your buried body began to breathe”. That is parenting – the miracles of love. There are soft good days and hard challenging times. We have a gift from God in His beautiful creation and it is an honor to be a parent. He sees everything you do even if your children never know. This is your greatest calling and opportunity for good on this planet.
