I just caught up on some news and social media. Social media does not take much time out of my day but what started as a way to check in on my kids has grown to keeping up with past and new friends. I’ve learned a lot and expect most of it is true! Today there were two clips of animal rescues. I cheered on the men who saved a dog who had fallen off a cliff in Oregon. Then there was the stuck deer who had fallen into a crevice and his/her deer friend stood by helpless. Two men struggled in this successful rescue. These are heart warming accounts but I always transition to the confidence that unborn babies have souls. God’s word says that they are made in the image of God. Man was assigned to care for the creation. Saving a dog or deer is a worthy effort but not so worthy as saving a baby with all of the potential to change the world to be a better and a more loving place. Human beings are elevated as we truly look after the pinnacle of God’s creation. These efforts cannot be compared. I saw a post this week from a friend so certain that her lost dog is in Heaven. I’m not sure about that but God can decide. I would not make it a theological assurance. Any effort to save an unborn baby is an act inspired by God.
