This title is misleading because The Trinity is hard to fathom. We interpret and guess then write about it. I won’t bore you with my ramblings but will here summarize a good read from September 2025 in the publication, ‘Our Daily Bread’. Most of this is condensed but no quotation marks on parts I’ve quoted.
God is one Being Who has existed eternally as three distinct, not separate, persons. Each functions differently. The Father is the originator, the Son is the Agent, and the Holy Spirit is the Applicator. None act independently. Creation had three designers: God created all things in Jesus and the Spirit hovered over the waters. In salvation, God so loved the world – gave His only Son – then they both sent Holy Spirit. In the baptism the Son comes up out of the water, Holy Spirit descends and the Father declares. Matt 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” – three in one. The trim God hears us when we pray, understands us when we suffer, and will see us safely home. God loves us and sent His Son to take our punishment. Holy Spirit is our Helper and divine Comforter, living in us to give us victory over sin.
A couple of years ago I entered a class on The Trinity with the notion that the formula for water is H20. Water is the same material (essence) in three forms – ice, water, and steam. The three forms function according to the temperature. I was wrong. This is bigger than my comprehension. I hope this prompts us to all consider. Thank you thinkers at ‘Our Daily Bread’.
