I heard a saying years ago that I have adopted – “When you don’t know what to do – do the dishes”. This is not life-transforming but at least your kitchen is clean. I do like the idea of not rushing into the unknown. Being impulsive in too many things can lead to regret. I want to adapt this idea with a biblical anchor. Philippians 4:8, “Finally, Brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things”. Our minds can be undisciplined and untrustworthy. You know that if you have ever lost sleep over a decision. If you don’t know, then, wait on the Lord. In the meantime, do the dishes, take a walk, and look at something truly lovely.
