We might remember Waldo. We searched for a red-striped shirt in a very busy book entitled, ‘Where is Waldo?’ Then someone invented a game with a goal of finding an ‘Elf on the Shelf’. As I prepare to open Christmas boxes for the first time in three years (splendid missions travel for the last three) I’m haunted by a ‘ghost’ of Christmas past from the heartwarming story of the Christmas Carol. I remember a year where the Santa decor outnumbered the reason for the season. I had a nativity up but many more Santas. I counted and the odds were not in my favor. My heart hurt as I considered what my children were learning from their Mom about the true goodness of the Christmas message. Jesus, God incarnate, entered time and space with us in mind. The plan from the beginning was to enter our hearts and provide a way of escape, opening the doors of Heaven. Before Bethlehem we were so lost but can now be found. Are you FOUND? I hope you find Jesus at the center of your celebrations in this joy-filled season.
