I’m So Proud of Myself

Posted on June 1, 2024June 1, 2024 by Pam

Even a broken clock has the correct time twice a day. That line was on tv this week and always makes me laugh. It applies to my walk this morning. I went a measly two miles but that is good for someone who is not as engaged with healthy habits as I want to be….

Armchair Evangelist

Posted on May 22, 2024May 24, 2024 by Pam

This was not the armchair you might picture. There was a bright light overhead and a drill to the side. It was either a torture chair or a dentist’s chair. It was a later, and I was getting my teeth cleaned. It feels so good afterwards but I’m famous for feeling nauseous after the event….

Out of Options

Posted on May 18, 2024May 18, 2024 by Pam

A friend is praying for her sister who has fallen on deadly habits. She can’t stop. I crave chocolate every afternoon near 2-ish. I guess you could call it addiction. The verse she is praying for her loved one is Jer 32:27, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh (mankind); is anything…

Job – Psalms – Proverbs

Posted on May 18, 2024May 18, 2024 by Pam

I meant to read Psalms but I flipped too far and read Proverbs 8. It is a long chapter. I returned to Psalm 8 – not as long. What was interesting in the Proverbs passage, discussing wisdom, is the pronouns. Wisdom is personified as she. In a lifetime of feminist teachings I chuckled and thought…

Avoid Everything

Posted on May 18, 2024May 18, 2024 by Pam

I’m not sure who said this but I think it was a friend recovering from a stroke. It is impossible to avoid everything but in a healing season one must pare down. I compare this process to a final move. My neighbor’s garage is filled with her mother’s precious things. She had been in a…

Is It a Step Back?

Posted on May 16, 2024May 16, 2024 by Pam

I love the truth that God is sovereign. Reign is a part of that word when dissected. I also know there are people who blame God for this broken world. “If He is sovereign, then why the big mess?” What happens between God’s will and our will? There is a tension between cause and effect….

Back to the Future

Posted on May 14, 2024May 14, 2024 by Pam

In my neighborhood many drive Tesla’s. I’m a fan of Elon Musk but he is a character and I’m not sure what side of history or eternity he will land. He has made billions by founding or investing in a variety of forward-thinking tech companies. He loves space and is fixated on one particular letter…

Not Cousins

Posted on May 4, 2024May 4, 2024 by Pam

Compare the Old Testament promises to us with the New Testament. The old leads to a new and inclusive salvation. Israel was set apart then confronted with Jesus. It did not go well. When I think of the state of the world today and the persecution of the Jews, I feel as if we are…

Borders Are Not Evil

Posted on May 3, 2024May 3, 2024 by Pam

There is an impressive account in the book or Joshua, chapter six, on the walled city of Jericho. I cannot remember any account in God’s word where any wall is referred to as evil. Some walls secured cities where the worshipers of idols resided. Felling the wall employed priests and musicians, but however it happened,…

Do I Have To Be Nice

Posted on May 3, 2024May 3, 2024 by Pam

We are supposed to show care and spread joy. I thought I was doing that today but it ended feeling like a sucker punch. My fault was in not following directions. Jesus is clear in these points – that are not parables. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with…

"Thoughts from a genuinely evaluative mind."

Pam writes so that must make her a writer. Recently retired, she can now fill days with family, friends, missions, writing, creating, and showing up for whomever needs her. Pam loves the Lord and people. The Bible is God’s love letter to us (and who does not need more love) so she studies and writes some more.

Pam lives in the Pacific Northwest but was home-grown in Southern California. She attended San Jose Bible College and finished a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at UCLA. She became a teacher, then a Research and Development Chemist, then she built two successful real estate businesses in two states. Pam also pursued study at Fuller Theological Seminary and just completed six months serving in missions abroad.

Pam has two amazing children, married to two precious in-laws, and five sweet grandchildren. Pam is a gifted connector and communicator and the Northwest has the perfect climate for staying inside and writing – or baking! She has been writing since a wee one and is currently converting many years of blogging, by topic, into ten books. The first is a collection from 2011 titled, Beautiful Enough. The second is a yearly day-timer titled, Weekly Planner - Lessons in Life, Glory, and Grace. Number three is in progress with the working title, Christmas Today.

Ten facts about Pam in no particular order:

  1. On the team that developed an insulation for the Alaskan oil pipeline.
  2. Loves looking at homes, decorating, and has flipped five homes.
  3. Likes being tall.
  4. Films have helped define her vocabulary.
  5. Comes from Colorado tenement farmers with history traced to Wales.
  6. Was lost but now is found.
  7. Baking makes her happy – as does eating sweets with coffee, of course.
  8. She thinks mission work is the most important work in the world.
  9. The church started in Rome so she is learning Italian.
  10. Pam is a work in progress!

“I will be your God throughout your lifetime - until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” Isaiah 46:4
