About That Shirley

Posted on December 12, 2020December 12, 2020 by Pam

It is nearing Christmas. I love the twinkling lights, sugar cookies, and feeling of expectation, so why am I thinking about Shirley? The Shirley I’m considering is the, “Surely goodness and Mercy will follow me all the days of my life.” The idea of advent was foreign to me until I attended a wonderful neighborhood…

The Twelve

Posted on November 23, 2020November 24, 2020 by Pam

What did the twelve disciples who Jesus called have in common? Mostly they had faith in common. There were two sets of brothers – Peter and Andrew then James and John. That could not have been easy. How do you get along with your siblings? Did they look alike and sound alike? Did they argue?…

Reflecting

Posted on November 23, 2020November 24, 2020 by Pam

Of all the qualities God gave water my fav is reflection so we can see the beauty twice. I once had an entire exam in Physical Chemistry with one final essay question. Describe the chemical properties of water. That professor was young and cute and never reached tenure. The powers that be did not appreciate…

A Happy Accident

Posted on November 23, 2020November 24, 2020 by Pam

I think that much of art is a happy accident. I had put out acrylic paints for Tucker and Penelope. They painted wonderful Christmas wreaths. Although I had put out all of the Christmas colors Penelope spied the basket behind the table with additional colors. Both children rounded out their choices and filled their palettes…

God’s Got This

Posted on November 23, 2020 by Pam

I was looking at gift suggestions to give comfort to my loved ones during this unusual Christmas season. Some suggestions were; a weighted blanket, a wineglass wall attachment for the bathtub, a lighted alarm clock, oil diffuser, baking mixes, etc. What caught my particular attention was a decal for the bath mirror saying, YOU GOT…

Bunkbeds

Posted on November 14, 2020November 24, 2020 by Pam

Bunkbeds I don’t like bunk beds and dreaded summer camp as a child because I did not feel safe on the top and still don’t feel safe on the bottom. If I rolled over too far I would fall and crack my head (cabins usually had cement floors.) If I wound up on the bottom…

Is She Nice?

Posted on November 1, 2020November 1, 2020 by Pam

Would you rather people refer to you as nice or as kind? I’ve been thinking about this today because my church is studying the Book of Galatians and Pastor Steve is currently teaching on the fruits of the spirit. If you start in Chapter 5, read verses 16-26 then meet me back here. OK –…

Regrets and Hopes

Posted on October 24, 2020November 20, 2020 by Pam

Pam’s Got a Point October 24, 2020  2 Corinthians 11:30 If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. So Paul was taken to the third Heaven, Paradise, and will not take credit for the amazingness of this blessing. It sounds remarkable. Considering all of the havoc Paul exerted against…

Playing Catch Up

Posted on July 3, 2020October 21, 2020 by Pam

Why is maturity elusive? That is because maturity means acting our age. Our age keeps changing so maturity is changing. We are mature when we are present today and hold a realistic view of our situation. Mature people are not perfect and they know it. Trauma can freeze a frame in time and we are…

Oh Joy

Posted on July 3, 2020October 21, 2020 by Pam

I have had a lot of joy in my life. Whether I rejoiced or not is another matter. The oxymoron of James is the purpose of the trials. The worst trial for me is betrayal because I value loyalty. There are challenges in this life to the ninth power! The purpose of the trials in…

"Thoughts from a genuinely evaluative mind."

Pam writes so that must make her a writer. Recently retired, she can now fill days with family, friends, missions, writing, creating, and showing up for whomever needs her. Pam loves the Lord and people. The Bible is God’s love letter to us (and who does not need more love) so she studies and writes some more.

Pam lives in the Pacific Northwest but was home-grown in Southern California. She attended San Jose Bible College and finished a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at UCLA. She became a teacher, then a Research and Development Chemist, then she built two successful real estate businesses in two states. Pam also pursued study at Fuller Theological Seminary and just completed six months serving in missions abroad.

Pam has two amazing children, married to two precious in-laws, and five sweet grandchildren. Pam is a gifted connector and communicator and the Northwest has the perfect climate for staying inside and writing – or baking! She has been writing since a wee one and is currently converting many years of blogging, by topic, into ten books. The first is a collection from 2011 titled, Beautiful Enough. The second is a yearly day-timer titled, Weekly Planner - Lessons in Life, Glory, and Grace. Number three is in progress with the working title, Christmas Today.

Ten facts about Pam in no particular order:

  1. On the team that developed an insulation for the Alaskan oil pipeline.
  2. Loves looking at homes, decorating, and has flipped five homes.
  3. Likes being tall.
  4. Films have helped define her vocabulary.
  5. Comes from Colorado tenement farmers with history traced to Wales.
  6. Was lost but now is found.
  7. Baking makes her happy – as does eating sweets with coffee, of course.
  8. She thinks mission work is the most important work in the world.
  9. The church started in Rome so she is learning Italian.
  10. Pam is a work in progress!

“I will be your God throughout your lifetime - until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” Isaiah 46:4
